What AI for construction is
AI tools for construction are applications that analyze site data (budgets, drawings, reports, models) to support decisions on cost, schedule and quality. They rely on machine learning, natural language and computer vision, and work on what you already produce: spreadsheets, PDFs and BIM models.
They serve contractors, architecture studios, civil engineering teams and renovation companies. The drill and the tape measure do not compete with AI: AI works in the data and management layer, and the trades work on site.
The reason is the sector context. According to McKinsey, 98% of megaprojects suffer cost overruns above 30% and 77% are at least 40% late. Spotting deviations before they grow is exactly what these tools try to bring forward, although validating each number remains the site manager’s job.
For construction companies, start with the use case that concentrates the most repetitive tasks. AI can automate reading emails, organize site information and help with cost forecasting, which frees time for project management and flags problems, such as a delayed line item, before they become bottlenecks. Generative AI and AI agents add a natural language layer, so you query your data in real time as if talking to a colleague, and keep compliance checklists and documentation up to date.

Presto (RIB Spain)
Presto (RIB Spain) is RIB Spain’s software for budgets, measurements, scheduling and cost control, built around BIM. Task: measuring a renovation project, linking it to your price database and tracking deviations during execution. Limits: the official site does not describe AI features in Presto; AI appears in the RIB 4.0 platform that connects to it, so ask which modules your license includes. Cost: pricing on request; no general free trial, only temporary licenses for training.
Togal.AI
Togal.AI automates takeoffs on drawings with AI. Task: uploading a plan PDF and getting areas and quantities to start the budget. Limits: I could not confirm language support or specific certifications; the site only mentions “security compliance” on the Business plan. Cost: Growth, $299 per user per month billed yearly; Business is custom from 4 users; no trial, you book a demo.
A concrete example: a studio loads five years of closed budgets into a spreadsheet and asks an assistant to compare the new job’s steel line with the average paid. If it is clearly lower, the team reviews and adjusts before the overrun shows up on site.
Planning and site control
In construction project management, these tools cross the schedule with data from previous jobs and with site images to forecast delays, allocate resources and detect problems in time. BIM, drones and computer vision are the technologies that bring AI to the site: modeling, inspection and quality control.
Procore
Procore is a site management platform with built-in AI agents. Task: turning field photos, emails and voice notes into a daily log, or drafting an RFI by cross-checking the specifications. Limits: agents need human sign-off and follow Procore permissions; I could not confirm which AI features are available in Spanish. Cost: pricing on request; no trial, you request a demo.
Autodesk Construction Cloud
Autodesk Construction Cloud brings drawings, documents and BIM site coordination into the cloud, the Revit ecosystem. Task: detecting clashes between structure and services on the model before building. Limits: it is licensed by module and the site does not detail which AI each one includes. Cost: Autodesk Build from about $1,625 per user per year; confirm the current plan on the site.
Buildots
Buildots connects BIM, schedule and site data and shows what has been built against the plan. Task: flagging activities that threaten the delivery date. Limits: aimed at large projects; the site is in English and French. Cost: pricing on request; demo only.
OpenSpace
OpenSpace captures the site with photos, video, 360° walks and drone flights, and compares progress with plans and models. Task: reviewing a renovation’s status remotely without climbing the scaffold. Limits: the site offers no Spanish version. Cost: custom quote.
Documents and writing
For paperwork, general assistants save repetitive tasks: minutes, bids, supplier emails and contract summaries. Three of them, ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot, are taught in the Founderz master.
Microsoft Copilot

Claude
Claude stands out with long documents. Task: summarizing a tender specification and listing the clauses on deadlines and penalties. Limits: it does not connect to your site software by default. Cost: free plan; Pro $17 a month billed annually or $20 monthly.
Gemini
Gemini fits if you work with Google Workspace. Task: comparing three supplier quotes pasted into a spreadsheet. Limits: the pricing site points to a country list; confirm it is available in yours. Cost: free plan; Google AI Pro €21.99 a month.

How to choose the right tool
Before buying, go through this checklist with whoever handles data protection at your company.
- Privacy and GDPR: where drawings, budgets and client data are hosted, and whether a data processing agreement exists.
- Integrations: it should connect to your budgeting or management software, or to spreadsheets, without manual exports.
- Cost per user: work out real spend with your team; many site tools only give pricing on request.
- Spanish: check that reports and messages come out well in Spanish, not just the interface.
- Learning curve: start with one use case, measure the result against your usual way of working and scale afterwards.
