Introducing the Founderz Fellows: our first AI-powered mentors

Online education is undergoing a major transformation. For years, digital platforms focused on offering access to content, recorded classes, and discussion forums. But the biggest challenge has always been the same: how do we create a truly personalized learning experience?

At Founderz, we’ve taken a bold step to answer that question with a unique feature in the education space: Fellows, AI-powered virtual mentors that support students in real time throughout their entire learning journey.

Far from being just another chatbot or automated assistant, a Fellow is a mentor with a distinct personality, trained using the knowledge of real instructors and official program content. This makes each Fellow a true learning ally, capable of guiding, recommending, and answering questions with precision and personalization 24/7.

What are Founderz Fellows?

Fellows are AI agents specialized in learning, designed to provide a scalable and personalized educational experience. They function as virtual mentoring systems trained on program content and instructor expertise, enabling them to handle both theoretical queries and guide students through practical applications.

Their architecture integrates advanced AI models capable of analyzing individual student progress, spotting patterns of advancement or stagnation, and adjusting their responses accordingly. At the start of a program, every student can choose a main Fellow with a specific style, tone, and area of expertise. The system is also flexible: students can interact with other Fellows throughout the program, enriching their experience and exposing them to different perspectives.

Fellows can remember past interactions, creating continuity and strengthening the relationship with each learner. They can even detect behaviors that impact the learning environment: for example, if a student uploads an invalid assignment (such as a video without sound), the Fellow flags it and escalates it to the support team. They also encourage students to include additional materials in future submissions to improve peer interaction and learning quality.

The Added Value of Artificial Intelligence

Fellows come with multilingual capabilities, allowing students to interact in any language and removing cultural or geographic barriers. Rather than replacing educators, Fellows act as an extension of their work, providing immediate and continuous support to ensure that no learner is left behind.

Some of the most appreciated features include:

  • Personalized study plans: Fellows adapt the course timeline to the student’s weekly availability, recommending which modules to focus on and at what pace.
  • Summaries and study notes: They turn entire classes into clear, easy-to-review notes.
  • Tailored quizzes: Fellows generate tests based on what each student needs to reinforce.
  • Real-time feedback: They review assignments and provide concrete suggestions to accelerate progress.
  • Practical support: From guiding students step by step in building an AI agent with Copilot, to helping them prepare for a job interview through role-playing simulations.

With these capabilities, the learning experience becomes active rather than passive, where students engage, experiment, and receive continuous feedback. In an educational environment with thousands of learners across different countries and time zones, scalability is essential: Fellows handle over 10,000 real-time interactions daily, in any language.

Technology That Accompanies People

At Founderz, we stand by a core belief: Artificial intelligence should not replace people—it should enhance their ability to support and accompany learners. Fellows are a clear reflection of this philosophy.

When a student’s question is too complex, requires deeper interpretation, or involves an emotional context that AI cannot resolve, the Fellow automatically escalates it to the human community and support team. This ensures that personalized attention and educational quality are never lost. At the same time, it allows the human team to focus on higher-value tasks: actively listening to students, identifying trends in their needs, creating additional resources, and strengthening the sense of community across the campus.

The result is a balanced ecosystem where the speed and scalability of AI combine with the warmth and depth of human support. Fellows ensure that no student is left without day-to-day guidance, while the community and support team guarantee that complex interactions receive the human attention they deserve.

New Features: Voice and Video Interaction

Until now, interaction with Fellows was mainly text-based—a highly effective channel for immediacy and personalization. With the introduction of voice and video calls, we’re expanding their role to new contexts where spoken communication brings unique value, such as practicing interviews, preparing presentations, or engaging in professional role plays.

Voice functionality allows for natural, agile conversations, where learners can express themselves freely without typing and receive real-time answers. Video calls add an unprecedented level of closeness to online learning: seeing and hearing a virtual mentor builds trust, strengthens communication skills, and makes Fellows feel like tangible companions in the educational process.

All of this is seamlessly integrated into the existing architecture that already ensures personalization, multilingual capabilities, and constant availability—now enhanced with a far more immersive format that places students at the center of a unique interactive experience.

Empowering the Learning Community with AI

At Founderz, we are convinced that the future of education lies in combining the best of technology with the best of people. Fellows are proof that we not only teach artificial intelligence, but also develop and apply it successfully in our own campus. We are pioneers in using AI to serve real learning needs and in demonstrating how it can transform education from the inside out.

As Pau Garcia-Milà, co-CEO of Founderz, states: “Fellows are the result of incredible work across Founderz’s Engineering, Art, and Academic teams, in collaboration with Microsoft.”

With the arrival of voice and video features, we’re taking another step forward to ensure every student experiences fully personalized learning in an ecosystem where they are supported at all times. Because at Founderz, AI doesn’t replace people: it empowers them.
