How to read this rating
- These tools are very different, so we score within each category: software built for motion designers and creative teams does not compete with a general assistant.
- Fit counts double: a tool built for your sector scores 5; a general assistant that does the job well with good prompts scores 3.
- General assistants (Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) share the same fit score because they do the same kind of job; ease, price, availability and privacy set them apart, and we score privacy for professional use with client data. Ties are broken on privacy.
- Best if you use shows whether a tool works best inside Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. Copilot and Gemini are not marked down for it, but they are only the best choice if you already work there.
- Scores are based on official information checked on November 6, 2026. This is not a lab test: it is our rating against fixed criteria, and we keep the reason behind every score.

Data checked on November 6, 2026 on each tool’s official website. Prices, plans and terms change often: always check the current details on the provider’s site before you buy.
No affiliates, no sponsorships. Founderz receives no affiliate commission or payment from any of these tools for being listed here. We wrote this guide to give you a genuinely useful resource to help you choose what best fits your needs.
My rule: start with one image or video tool for your heaviest task and one general assistant for the script. Plans change often, so check current terms before paying.
What AI motion design is
AI motion graphics is technology that generates animation from text or prompts, without you building every frame by hand. The tool interprets a description and returns an animated result. It does not replace the discipline of motion design, it speeds it up.
- Professional motion designers who prototype before opening After Effects.
- Content creators who need animated videos for social media without a team behind them.
- Marketing teams, agencies and freelancers that produce variations of one piece or validate concepts with the client.
Two ideas are worth separating. Motion design is the discipline: rhythm, hierarchy and style. Motion graphics is the deliverable the viewer sees. AI generates the second easily; the first is still yours.
What content these tools accept
These artificial intelligence tools turn different kinds of input into motion graphics. The clearer the material, the better the result:
- Text and prompts. You describe the scene, style or message and the tool creates animation from text.
- Scripts and articles. You paste a script or a blog post and get a block-by-block animated sequence, with voice and avatar if the tool includes them.
- Images and visual elements. You upload a still image and the tool animates it or builds it into a composition.
The limit is complexity. A simple transition or lower third generates well, and so do animated titles for reels or TikTok. A sequence with many layers and precise synchronization still needs manual work in your editor.
Benefits of creating animations with AI
Each advantage has its caveat, so it is worth seeing them honestly: what you gain and where the limit is.
- Less ideation time. A first concept in minutes instead of an afternoon. Caveat: it is a starting point, not the final piece.
- Fast variations. You ask for five versions of an idea and compare. Limit: many look alike and you must discard with judgment.
- Reusable templates. You define a structure and replicate it across campaigns, with a review so it fits the brand.
- Prototypes before After Effects. You validate the direction with the client without spending production hours.
Adobe says its generative AI features aim to shorten repetitive tasks so designers spend more time on the creative part. AI does not make finished professional animated videos for you, but it gets you sooner to the point where your judgment adds value.
Generative video and animation
These tools produce clips, images and AI-generated video that you then animate or build into your composition. They are the raw material of the piece, not the finish.
Adobe Firefly
Adobe Firefly generates images and video from text and fits into the Adobe ecosystem. Task: create three styleframes for a campaign and a five-second base clip to take into After Effects. Limits: Standard plan credits run out with heavy use. Cost: free plan with limited credits; Standard from $9.99 per month. Firefly is one of the tools we teach at Founderz.
Runway
Runway generates and edits video with AI. Task: create generative b-roll for an explainer or apply a mask that isolates a subject from the background and saves you part of the rotoscoping. Limits: the interface is in English and monthly credits do not roll over. Cost: free plan with 125 one-time credits; Standard is $15 per month ($12 billed annually). Runway is part of our courses at Founderz too.
Kling
Kling generates video from text or an image. Task: animate a static styleframe to see whether the movement works before building it. Limits: I could not confirm the free plan terms or interface language on its official site. Cost: see its site. It is among the tools in the Founderz program for creatives.
Midjourney
Midjourney creates images from text with a very defined visual style. Task: generate the moodboard and styleframes of an art direction before animating. Limits: it has no free plan and the interface is in English. Cost: Basic is $10 per month. It is also part of what we work on at Founderz.
Text to motion graphics
Here the starting point is a text, a script or an article, and the result is an animated piece ready for social media or training. It works for volume.
vidio.ai
vidio.ai turns text or an article into motion graphics without you touching the timeline. Task: turn a blog post into a one-minute explainer video. Limits: the result is a draft; a sequence with many layers and precise synchronization needs manual work. Cost: Basic plan is free; the Pro 20 plan is $8 per month.
OpusClip
OpusClip extracts short clips and reels from a long video. Task: pull five vertical clips from an hour-long webinar. Limits: it does not generate original animation, it reuses your footage. Cost: free plan; Starter at $15 per month.
HeyGen
HeyGen creates avatar and voice videos from a script, so a text becomes an animated presenter. Task: produce an internal training video without filming. Limits: the free plan watermarks the videos. Cost: free with 3 videos a month; Creator is $29 per month ($24 billed annually). It is in the Founderz program for creatives.
ElevenLabs
ElevenLabs generates voice-over, sound effects and music from text. Task: voice an animated title and add a transition effect. Limits: I could not confirm which languages are included on its pricing page. Cost: free plan with 10,000 credits a month; Starter is $6 per month after a $1 first month. We teach ElevenLabs at Founderz too.
General AI assistants
General assistants do not generate the movement, but they organize the work before it: script, brief, storyboard and client communication.
Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft Copilot works inside Word, PowerPoint and Teams. Task: turn a client brief into a scene-by-scene storyboard and prepare the concept presentation. Limits: the full license requires a Microsoft 365 business plan. Cost: Copilot Chat at no extra cost with a work account; the license is €21.84 per user per month excl. VAT. With a work account, your conversations get enterprise data protection. We teach it at Founderz with everyday examples.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT drafts scripts, describes scenes and suggests variations of a concept. Task: ask for ten transition ideas for a product video and turn the best into prompts for Runway or Firefly. Limits: it does not know your brand unless you explain it. Cost: there is a free plan; Plus is $20 per month and Business is $20 per user per month billed annually ($25 monthly). We teach it at Founderz too.
Claude
Claude stands out with long documents, such as a brand guide or a long script. Task: upload the brand guide and ask for a list of motion rules (rhythm, easing, colors) for the team. Limits: it does not generate video. Cost: free plan; Pro at $20 per month billed monthly ($17 billed annually). It is also part of our courses.
Gemini
Gemini fits if your team works in Google Workspace. Task: summarize the notes of an art meeting and propose a storyboard in a shared document. Limits: usage limits depend on the plan. Cost: free plan; Google AI Pro is €21.99 per month in Spain. Gemini is part of what we work on at Founderz.

Motion graphics prompt generator
Pick your case, adjust the options and get a complete prompt ready to paste into ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude or Gemini.
Open the generatorWorkflow: from prompt to finish
AI does not replace After Effects, it feeds it. It comes in at the start, in the draft phase, and you take control afterwards. These are the steps:
- Define the goal and style. What you communicate, on which channel and in what tone. A TikTok motion graphic is not thought out like a corporate explainer.
- Generate references from text. With Midjourney or Firefly you fix palette, composition and animation styles in a quick moodboard.
- Turn the prompt or script into animation. Runway, Kling or vidio.ai return several versions; you keep the one that fits the goal.
- Adjust timing and synchronization on the timeline. You import the result into After Effects, refine transitions and fix what the AI missed. This step is still human.
- Add audio, export and check the brand. With ElevenLabs you add voice and effects, export in the channel format and check brand consistency up to delivery.
Whoever masters both worlds produces faster without losing quality in video editing: AI shortens the start and Adobe After Effects gives the professional finish. In your workflow, traditional software stays where it performs best: Premiere for assembly, Blender or Cinema 4D if the piece is 3D, and an automated agent only when the tool offers one. If you are looking for a motion graphics tool to start today, pick one that exports in HD and without a watermark on its paid plan, because unlimited use is almost never on the free plan.
These pieces work mostly on social networks such as YouTube, Instagram or TikTok, where animated video in a few seconds pays off more than studio polish.
How to choose the right tool
Choose by project phase and by number of pieces. Use this checklist as a filter:
- Privacy and GDPR: check whether your files and prompts train the model and whether you can turn that off before uploading client material.
- Usage rights: check the commercial terms of what you generate; some free plans have no commercial license.
- Integrations: it should export to the formats After Effects or your editor imports.
- Cost per user: start on the free plan and pay when volume justifies it.
- Spanish support: confirm whether the interface and help are in Spanish.
- Learning curve: vidio.ai takes minutes; Runway takes more practice.
Tip
Test two tools with the same prompt on the free plan and compare how many adjustments you need, not the first version.
Important
Before uploading client material, spend five minutes reading what the tool does with it. Also check the commercial license of each piece before delivering it.
Limits of AI in motion design
Where the tool fails, the motion designer rules.
- Timing control. Fine timing and animation with many layers and precise synchronization still need a human hand.
- Brand consistency. An AI does not understand the internal rules of a visual identity without supervision.
- Creative direction. AI proposes, it does not decide; the polished finish comes from judgment.
Prompts to get started
Three prompts for the most common tasks. Replace what is in brackets with your case.
Scene-by-scene storyboard
Act as a motion graphics director. Brief: [client description and goal]. Length: [15] seconds, channel: [Instagram Reels].
Split the piece into 5 scenes. For each: what is seen, how it moves, duration in seconds and on-screen text.
Format: table. Do not invent product data.
Video prompt for Runway or Firefly
Motion graphics of [logo / product] on a [color] background, [minimalist, geometric shapes] style, [3-color] palette, fixed camera, smooth movement with ease in and ease out, 5 seconds, no text inside the image.
Brand motion rules
I am attaching the brand guide: [text]. Write a one-page set of motion rules: rhythm, easing type, transition length, use of color and animations we avoid.
Format: list with one example per rule. Write in US English.
Frequently asked questions about AI tools for motion design
Short answers to what people search most about AI motion graphics, motion design and using them on real projects.
What AI tools are used in motion design?
Professionals combine Adobe Firefly, Runway, Midjourney and Kling for images and video, vidio.ai for motion graphics from text, HeyGen for avatars and ElevenLabs for voice. The finish is usually done in After Effects.
What is the best AI for motion graphics?
It depends on the task. Adobe Firefly and Runway to generate images and video, vidio.ai to turn text into motion graphics, HeyGen for avatar videos and OpusClip for clips from long video.
What is AI motion?
It is the use of artificial intelligence to generate motion graphics and animation from text or prompts, without building every frame by hand. It speeds up the draft, but timing and style stay in the motion designer’s hands.
Do I need After Effects to create motion graphics with AI?
Not for a first draft: vidio.ai or Runway generate pieces in the browser. To adjust timing, layers and synchronization, an editor like After Effects is worth having.
Are AI tools for motion graphics free?
Many have a free plan with limits: Runway, HeyGen, ElevenLabs, vidio.ai, OpusClip and Adobe Firefly. Midjourney has no free plan. Watermark-free exports are usually paid.
How does AI handle complex visual sequences?
In a limited way. A simple transition or lower third comes out well; a sequence with many layers and chained synchronization is finished by hand on the timeline.
Can I adapt AI animations to my brand?
Yes, but it takes work. Include palette, style and typefaces in the prompt and adjust the result in your editor. A set of motion rules helps keep consistency.
Will AI replace motion designers?
No. It automates drafts, variations and references, but creative direction, timing and brand consistency stay human.
