Ecommerce prompt generator

Tell us what you sell and get a professional prompt for product descriptions, category pages, marketplace listings, comparisons and emails. Only step 1 is required: everything else stays on Auto.

How to use this ecommerce prompt generator

To build your ecommerce prompt, follow these steps. Only the first one is required: anything you skip stays on Auto.

  1. Start with the essentials. Pick an example (product description, optimize a product page, category page, comparison, marketplace or launch email) or describe the product with its confirmed attributes, the audience and what is still to be confirmed, with no customer data. Then choose what you need to prepare and, if your context is short, turn on “Have the AI ask me questions before it starts”.
  2. Set product and channel. The product type (fashion, beauty, home, electronics, food and drink, sports, B2B or digital), where it will be published (own online store, Amazon or another marketplace, Google Shopping, email, Instagram or TikTok, customer service) and the target customer. Brand positioning sits under advanced settings.
  3. Choose SEO and format. Search and intent (product page SEO, category SEO, comparison searches or clarity only, no SEO) and the length. Under advanced settings you pick the delivery format: copy ready to paste, attribute table, A/B variants, page modules or a CSV to import.
  4. Adjust data and quality. The material you will attach: spec sheet, product manual, real reviews or questions, a feed or catalog export, or the current page with its data. Under advanced settings you get extra checks (claims review, no price or stock, no dark patterns, accessibility and structured data), the response language and a field for anything the AI must respect.
  5. Generate and copy your prompt. Click “Generate prompt”, enter your email to see the whole prompt and copy it.

Ten ecommerce jobs. The “What do you need to prepare?” selector offers product description, optimize an existing page, category page, product comparison, marketplace listing, cross-sell and bundles, product FAQ, launch email, product video script and photography brief.

Each job adds its own working method, such as the feature, advantage, benefit chain of a product description, the conversion diagnosis of an existing page or the bullet points and backend search terms of a marketplace listing.

Example: high-converting product copy for an insulated bottle

With the generator’s “Product description” example (a 750 ml insulated bottle with data from the manufacturer spec sheet and the price still pending), the prompt starts like this. It’s an excerpt: the button copies the full prompt.

ROLE
Act as an ecommerce product content and conversion lead, with experience in product descriptions, SEO for online stores, marketplaces and CRO. You work from evidence: you separate confirmed attributes, the benefit that follows from them and claims still to be validated, and you never fill gaps with invented data. You write product descriptions with the feature, advantage, benefit method, handling purchase objections and designing for mobile reading.

GOAL
Write a clear, persuasive product description based only on confirmed attributes, that answers purchase questions and reads well on mobile.

CONTEXT
Context provided by the user (treat it as your main source):
[START OF BRIEF]
750 ml stainless steel insulated bottle. According to the manufacturer spec sheet, it keeps drinks cold for 24 hours and hot for 12 hours, it is BPA-free and the lid is leak-proof. It weighs 380 g. Not dishwasher safe. It is for our online store, aimed at people who do sport or cycle to work. Price and colors still to be confirmed.
[END OF BRIEF]

...

OUTPUT FORMAT
Deliver: product title (70 characters at most); a 2-sentence value summary; 4 or 5 bullets that start with the benefit and end with the attribute that proves it; a 120 to 200-word description; a specifications table with columns Attribute, Value, Source; what is in the box; care; 4 to 6 FAQs; and a list of missing data.

...

The full prompt adds the sports product, the own online store and the first-time buyer as context, the constraints on invented attributes, reviews and urgency, six working steps with product page SEO, a sample bullet and a final check before the answer.

The result: the assistant delivers a title, bullets that end with the attribute that proves them, specs with their source and a list of missing data, and leaves price and colors as [to be confirmed] instead of inventing them.

Best practices: how AI can write better results for your product listings

6 quick tips

  • Paste the spec sheet and the approved attributes. An AI tool writes better copy when it works from real data instead of guesses, and you save time on fixes.
  • For Google Shopping, ask for a product title with the key details first: Google allows up to 150 characters and recommends using keywords such as the product name and brand.
  • In “Where it will be published”, pick the real channel (own online store, Amazon or another marketplace, Google Shopping, email, Instagram or TikTok, customer service): structure, length and platform rules change with it.
  • Turn on “Claims review” in the extra checks if you mention health, sustainability or performance, and let legal or the catalog team validate it.
  • Choose “A/B variants” as the delivery format when you want to test headlines, bullets or email subject lines, and change one setting at a time.
  • In “Search and intent”, choose “Product page SEO” or “Category SEO” depending on the page; if you have no keywords yet, start with “Clarity only, no SEO”. Ecommerce SEO is about helping search engines and shoppers understand the product category, not repeating words.

Use cases: product listings, SEO, inbox and seasonal campaigns

  • New catalog Complete product pages with attributes, specifications and FAQ.
  • Optimization Rewrites of existing product pages that don’t convert, with the gaps flagged.
  • SEO Category page copy that helps people choose, written to avoid keyword stuffing, or a short buying guide for the category.
  • Marketplaces Content adapted to Amazon and other marketplaces and their title and bullet limits.
  • Cross-selling Cross-sell and bundle suggestions with confirmed compatible products.
  • Inbox and launches A launch email with a clear subject line, a product video script and a brief for product photography. For seasonal campaigns or post-purchase emails, pick Email as the channel and add the approved return policy and conditions.
  • Social media content Choose Instagram or TikTok as the channel for social media posts about a product; you add the hashtags your brand uses.

Prompt engineering for ecommerce: what makes effective prompts

Structured prompts give the model what you’d give someone new on the catalog team: a role, a specific task, the customer and channel context, the material it can use (spec sheet, manual or verified reviews), the constraints (what it can’t claim) and the output format. The piece people forget most is the line between specification and copy: without it, the model turns a feature into a promise nobody has checked. With that line in place, your product content is more useful to shoppers and easier to approve.

That’s also the difference between this tool and lists of copy-paste ChatGPT prompts for ecommerce, like the ones on God of Prompt and similar sites. Those prompts for marketing are a good start for content creation, ad copy or landing pages, but each one still needs your data. Here the fields collect it for you, so you can generate product descriptions, AI-generated listings and marketing campaigns that fit your business needs and support business growth without adding risk.

You can use ChatGPT, or any other assistant, in the same AI workflow: the generator handles the structure and personalization, you handle the facts. It doesn’t automate publishing, it helps streamline the writing step of your business operations, and it’s a practical way to boost sales through clearer pages while enhancing marketing efforts across the store.

Why I built these generators

Paul Delaney

I’m Paul Delaney, and I lead search and AI visibility at Founderz. I’ve been designing AI prompts since the GPT-2 era and writing them every day since 2021, helping friends, colleagues and clients across many sectors, industries and roles get more out of their work with AI tools.

I built these generators to help people. AI is a wonderful tool: it doesn’t replace people, it helps them deliver more and better work. So this generator is designed to bring real value to everyone who uses it, whatever their prompting level. I built it with AI helping me write the code, which is the best proof of what AI lets you do.

Structured prompting, the technique behind this generator, is only one of many. Founderz’s Founderz AI training for businesses teaches it alongside many others, so graduates come out significantly upskilled and able to build tools like this for their own field.

Frequently asked questions

Is the ecommerce prompt generator free?

Yes, it’s free. Before it asks for anything, it shows you a preview with the first sections of the prompt. To see the whole prompt and copy it, enter your email and accept the Privacy Policy; receiving communications from Founderz is optional.

It only asks once per visit: any prompts you generate after that are shown in full.

Which ecommerce AI tools does it work with?

Any text assistant: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot or your platform’s assistant, such as Shopify Magic or Klaviyo AI. The prompt uses clear sections (role, goal, context, constraints, steps and format) that all of them understand, so there is no tool to choose.

How do I write a product description with AI?

Choose “Product description”, paste the confirmed attributes and describe who the product is for. The result asks for a title, value summary, specifications, benefits tied to real data, FAQ and a list of missing data, so the page doesn’t promise anything you can’t back up.

Does it work for Amazon, Shopify or Google Shopping?

Yes. In “Where it will be published” you can choose your own online store (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or similar), Amazon or another marketplace, Google Shopping, email, Instagram or TikTok, or customer service, and the output adapts to that channel’s limits and rules without hiding relevant conditions.

Can the assistant make up product features?

It can, unless you stop it. That’s why the generator includes controls that forbid inventing attributes, certifications, compatibility, price or stock, and that keep confirmed features apart from proposed benefits.
