Branding prompt generator

Tell us about your brand and what you need, and get a professional prompt for a brand audit, positioning, naming, tone of voice, a visual identity or logo design brief, or brand guidelines. Only step 1 is required: everything else stays on Auto.

How to generate a brand design brief in five steps

To build your branding prompt, follow these steps. Only the first is required: anything you skip stays on Auto.

  1. Start with the essentials. Pick an example (Positioning, Naming, Tone of voice, Design brief, Territories or Review proposals) or describe your brand: what you sell, to whom, who you compete with and what you want to achieve. Then choose what you need: positioning, a brand audit, naming, tone of voice, a visual identity brief and five more tasks.
  2. Set the brand and market. The brand stage (pre-launch, established, rebrand, sub-brand or expansion) and the industry, from B2B professional services to luxury or a local business. Under advanced settings you choose the market: Spain, Latin America, Europe, the United States or global.
  3. Define the audience and difference. The priority audience (consumers, business decision makers, small businesses, large enterprises or a community) and the point of difference, such as specialisation, quality and craft or sustainability backed by proof. Under advanced settings you can set a brand archetype.
  4. Shape the delivery. Who the result is for (leadership, a designer, the marketing team, a client or sales) and the format: tables, a presentation outline, a workshop, a one-page document or three options with a pick. Under advanced settings you add the material you will paste, checks such as trademark risk, the answer language and anything it must respect.
  5. Generate and copy your prompt. Click “Generate prompt”, enter your email to see the whole prompt and copy it.

The examples load a real case with its options so you can see a finished prompt; then replace the text with your own brand. If your context is short, turn on the switch so the AI asks you questions before it starts.

Example: a positioning prompt for a B2B consultancy

With the generator’s “Positioning” example, the prompt starts like this. It’s an excerpt: the button copies the full prompt.

ROLE
Act as a senior brand strategist with experience in positioning, verbal identity and visual identity direction for small businesses, startups and established brands. You work from the customer and the competition, not from adjectives, and you never fill gaps with invented data. You specialise in positioning: you define the frame of reference, target customer, point of difference and reason to believe.

GOAL
Define the brand’s positioning and a value proposition the team can use to decide what to say and what not to say.

CONTEXT
Brand context provided by the user (treat it as your main source):
[START OF BRIEF]
We are a 12-person health and safety consultancy in Sheffield specialising in metalworking plants. We compete with large national providers that charge less. Clients choose us because we go onto the shop floor and know the machinery, but on our website we look like everyone else.
[END OF BRIEF]

...

OUTPUT FORMAT
Deliver: a table of customer alternatives (Alternative, What it does well, Where it falls short); a table of attributes (Attribute, Benefit, Do competitors say it?); 3 positioning statements; the recommended one with its trade-offs; and a value proposition of 25 words at most.

...

The full prompt adds the industry, audience and point of difference, rules against invented data and generic adjectives, five working steps with the positioning formula, and the checks to run before answering.

The result: the AI returns three comparable positioning statements with their trade-offs and a value proposition backed by proof, instead of lines any consultancy could sign.

Tips: feedback and evaluation for better brand work

5 quick tips

  • Name every real competitor in the context. Without them, the positioning you get back could belong to anyone.
  • For naming, ask for more options than you need and filter them yourself: check domain and trademark availability before you fall for a name.
  • After the first answer, ask the AI to act as your strongest competitor: it is the fastest way to find weak spots before you present to leadership or a client.
  • Review everything the AI marks as [assumption] or [to confirm]: that is the customer or market data you have not validated yet.
  • Test the tone of voice guide on real pieces (an email, a landing page, a social post) and adjust anything that doesn’t sound like your brand.

Use cases: from brand name to logo design brief

  • Brand audit Check the consistency of an established brand before a rebrand, touchpoint by touchpoint.
  • Territories Create brand territories and choose one with a scored criteria table.
  • Naming Generate and filter options for a new brand name or a sub-brand, ready for checks.
  • Design brief Write a visual identity brief for a designer, or brand guidelines for the whole team.
  • Channels Adapt one brand message to several channels without losing consistency.

Branding prompt generator or graphic design prompt generator?

Many free graphic design prompt tools, like Sharpen or Good Brief, hand you a random design challenge and a fake client’s brief so you can practice: a daily logo challenge, an illustration, a poster. They are great when you get stuck in a creative block, need inspiration for new design ideas, want to improve your design skills or fill a portfolio.

This generator does the opposite. It starts from your real brand, its competitors and its audience, and gives you a prompt that returns strategy and a professional design brief for your next design project.

It works as a brief generator for real work. Pick “Visual identity brief” and the AI drafts a creative brief a designer can work from, with a clear direction and the rationale behind it: who the brand speaks to, its personality, what stays and what changes, and what the logo, typography and color palette need to express.

It fits any design task, from a business card to a full identity system. You keep the design decisions; the generator saves time on the structure and fits into the design process you already have.

What makes a good brand design prompt

A good branding prompt sets the role (strategist, brand designer, copywriter), the task, the business and competitive context, the material you provide, the constraints (market, tone, values) and the output format. The piece that matters most is differentiation: if the AI doesn’t know what you compete on (price, specialisation, design, trust), it fills the gap with generic values like “innovation” or “commitment”.

Ask for several directions and choose with brand judgment, not the first answer. Good design starts from an insight about your audience, so a good prompt is descriptive about the business and open-ended about the creative answer, which leaves room for creativity.

Why I built these generators

Paul Delaney

I’m Paul Delaney, and I lead search and AI visibility at Founderz. I’ve been designing AI prompts since the GPT-2 era and writing them every day since 2021, helping friends, colleagues and clients across many sectors, industries and roles get more out of their work with AI tools.

I built these generators to help people. AI is a wonderful tool: it doesn’t replace people, it helps them deliver more and better work. So this generator is designed to bring real value to everyone who uses it, whatever their prompting level. I built it with AI helping me write the code, which is the best proof of what AI lets you do.

Structured prompting, the technique behind this generator, is only one of many. Founderz’s Certificate Program in Artificial Intelligence and Innovation teaches it alongside many others, so graduates come out significantly upskilled and able to build tools like this for their own field.

Frequently asked questions

Is the branding prompt generator free?

Yes, it’s free. Before it asks for anything, it shows you a preview with the first sections of the prompt. To see the whole prompt and copy it, enter your email and accept the Privacy Policy; receiving communications from Founderz is optional.

It only asks once per visit: any prompts you generate after that are shown in full.

Does it design my logo?

No. It works on strategy and verbal identity: positioning, naming, tone of voice and briefs. For logo design and the rest of the graphic design work, choose “Visual identity brief” and take that design brief to your designer or to an image tool.

What are brand archetypes?

They’re character types (the Sage, the Caregiver, the Creator, the Explorer, the Rebel, the Hero and others) that help describe a brand’s energy. You’ll find them under the advanced settings of “Audience and difference”, and they’re optional: leave the field on “Auto” if you don’t work with them.

Does it work for personal brands and small businesses?

Yes. Under priority audience you’ll find “Small businesses and freelancers”, and under industry “Local business”. With “Who it is for” you adapt the result to whoever will use it, from leadership to the sales team.

What language does the prompt come out in?

By default, the AI answers in the language you write your context in. Under the advanced settings of “Delivery”, “Answer language” lets you pick US or UK English, Spanish (Spain, Mexico or neutral Latin American), Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Catalan or a bilingual version.
