Video prompt generator Free AI video prompts for any AI video generator, from text to video in Veo, Runway or Kling
This video prompt generator turns a scene idea into an ordered prompt for AI video: subject, action, shot, camera movement, light, look, duration and format. It is free and runs in your browser, for creators, marketers and brands that want consistent AI video clips without writing the prompt from scratch. Founderz made it, and our Certificate Program in Artificial Intelligence and Innovation teaches you to use generative AI at work.

AI video prompt generator
Describe the scene and get a prompt that ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini can turn into the final prompts for Veo, Runway, Kling and other AI video tools, shot by shot. Only step 1 is required: everything else stays on Auto.
How to write an AI video prompt in five steps
Only the first step is required: anything you skip stays on Auto.
- The essentials. Write the subject, action and context under “Subject, action and context” and pick what to create under “What will you create?”: a final shot, ad, social media video, product clip, B-roll, narrative scene, music video, tutorial, avatar or storyboard. You can also turn on “Questions first”.
- Input and format. Set the “Input mode” (text, image, video, frames, reference or script), the “Destination and aspect ratio” (16:9, 9:16, 1:1…) and the “Duration and pace”.
- Camera and look. Choose “Shot and framing”, “Camera movement” and “Visual style”. Under “Advanced settings” you fine-tune light and time of day, palette, optics and subject motion.
- Tool and sound. Pick the “AI tool” (Veo, Runway, Kling, Sora and others), the “Audio and dialogue” and the “Language of the prompts”. Under “Advanced settings” you protect continuity, add extra controls and your brand or message.
- Generate and copy your prompt. Click “Generate prompt”, enter your email to see the whole prompt and copy it.
Paste the result into ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude: the prompt asks them to write the final version for the AI video tool you picked, keeping facts, assumptions and open questions apart. That’s the whole workflow: start with a prompt here, finish it in your assistant, then generate video in your tool.
Example: a vertical product clip for Veo
With the generator’s “Product ad” example, the prompt starts like this. It’s an excerpt: the button copies the full prompt.
ROLE Act as a director of photography and a prompt specialist for generative video tools. You turn an idea into shots the tool can execute: subject, action, setting, framing, camera movement, light, look, duration and sound, with one clear action per shot and no invented features. You make product clips where the object looks faithful and desirable in every frame. GOAL Write the prompts for a product clip that shows the object faithfully, in use or in detail, without distortion. CONTEXT Scene provided by the user (use it as the main source): [START OF BRIEF] A glass olive oil bottle on a rustic wooden table; a stream of oil falls in slow motion onto a slice of bread; morning light coming through a window. [END OF BRIEF] ... OUTPUT FORMAT Deliver: a product sheet (Element, Exact description); the clip prompt in a code block; one detail variation; and a list of 4 product fidelity checks. ...
The full prompt adds the format, duration, framing, camera and look you chose, the Veo writing rules, the steps for describing the product and the final checks, plus an “Assumptions and pending tests” section.
The result: the AI returns one prompt per shot, with a single action and verifiable parameters, ready to paste into your video tool.
Video prompt generator or AI video generator?
An AI video generator creates the finished video: you enter a prompt and the AI engine renders AI clips from text, an image or a reference video. This page is the step before.
It doesn’t render anything; it writes video generation prompts that work across different AI video models, so you get more from each set number of credits on your plan. Use it with any free AI video generator or paid AI platform: Veo, Runway, Kling, Luma, Pika, Firefly Video, Hailuo, Sora or CapCut, or leave the tool on Auto.
Text to video prompts that AI video models understand
AI video models can’t read your mind. A detailed text description that names the subject, the motion, the camera angles and the length beats a simple text like “cool product video”. The same structure also works as an AI video script outline for explainers and product demos.
Tips for AI video creation
5 quick tips
- One action per clip. Four to eight seconds fit one clear gesture; if you need more, split the idea into shots and use the storyboard.
- Name the camera move. “Slow dolly in” or “Lateral tracking shot” gives more control than “dynamic shot”.
- In image to video, the image already sets the look: describe mainly what moves and how, and protect what must not change with “Continuity to protect”.
- For a negative prompt, the Veo prompt guide from Google Cloud recommends describing what you don’t want without words like “no”: “wall, frame” rather than “no walls”.
- Ask for controlled variations: change one variable (light, shot or lens) between versions so you know what improved the finished video.
Use cases: from short-form social media content to ads
- Ecommerce and product demos Product clips with the object identical in every shot.
- Short-form video content Reels and Shorts in 9:16 with negative space for copy, to connect with your audience.
- Advertising 20 to 30 second ads planned shot by shot, the kind of engaging video every marketer needs.
- Animate an image Bring your own photo or illustration to life without losing its composition.
- Pre-production and B-roll Animatics, storyboards and B-roll to pitch an idea before you shoot, and fewer stock footage searches.
- AI avatars and explainers Presenters with HeyGen, tutorials and voiceovers in the audio settings.
What a good prompt for AI video generation includes
A good prompt defines the subject and action, the setting, the shot and camera movement, light and palette, look, duration and output format, and what to avoid. Underneath it’s the same structure as any prompt: role, task, context, reference material, constraints and format.
The difference is that time matters in video, so pace and frame-to-frame continuity count as much as the picture. Get those right and AI-generated footage needs far fewer retries.

Frequently asked questions
Is this free AI video prompt generator really free?
Yes, it’s free. Before it asks for anything, it shows you a preview with the first sections of the prompt. To see the whole prompt and copy it, enter your email and accept the Privacy Policy; receiving communications from Founderz is optional.
It only asks once per visit: any prompts you generate after that are shown in full.
Can I generate AI video with it?
No. It generates the prompt. The video is made by the tool you use, under its own plan and credits.
Can I use it to animate an image?
Yes. Choose “Image to video” under “Input mode” or the “Animate an image” preset, and use “Continuity to protect” to keep the composition, product or character.
Can I ask for audio or dialogue?
Yes. Under “Audio and dialogue” you can pick no audio, discreet natural ambience, a suggested musical rhythm, space for a voice-over, brief dialogue in English or Spanish, or a single sound effect. Check first whether your tool generates audio.
Which language is the prompt in?
The one you pick under “Language of the prompts”: prompts in English with explanations in your language, or everything in Spanish. On Auto, the prompts come out in English, which is where most video tools work best.
