3D prompt generator Write a text prompt for any AI 3D model generator to generate 3D models from text or images
This free 3D prompt generator turns a description of a piece into a structured prompt for Meshy, Tripo AI or Spline AI, for image tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney or Firefly, or for your Blender workflow. It runs in your browser and asks for your email before showing the prompt. Founderz made it; our Certificate Program in Artificial Intelligence and Innovation has a module on generating images and video with AI.

- About 2 minutes
- Runs in your browser
- Meshy, Tripo, Midjourney and more
At a glance
- What it does: Describe the piece and choose form, materials, render style, camera and light the way an industrial designer or 3D artist would.
- Which tasks: 14 types, from physical product to sculpture or art piece.
- What you get: a prompt ready to copy, plus follow-up requests.
3D prompt generator
Describe the piece and choose form, materials, render style, camera and light the way an industrial designer or 3D artist would. The prompt comes out in the exact format your tool expects. Only step 1 is required.
How to use the 3D prompt generator
There are five steps and only the first is required: anything you skip stays on Auto.
- The essentials. What piece do you want to visualize; Type of piece; Which tool.
- Form and materials. Form language; Color, material and finish (CMF); Render style. Advanced settings: Scale and ergonomics; Manufacturing; Brand personality.
- Scene, camera and light. Presentation setting; Camera and view; Lighting. Advanced settings: Detail that must not be lost (optional).
- Use and deliverable. Image objective; Deliverable. Advanced settings: Aspect ratio; Reference image you will attach; Avoid; References or components to respect (optional).
- Generate and copy your prompt. Click “Generate prompt”, enter your email to see the whole prompt and copy it.
The dropdowns start with a default value (for example, studio infinity background and neutral studio softbox), so check them even when you’re in a hurry: they go into the prompt as they are.
Example: a 3D model prompt for a product
With the generator’s “Premium product” example, this is the full prompt:
Create a 3D render of an electronic device: cylindrical portable speaker with a silicone handle and a single button. Electronics: buttons, ports, grilles and status light cleanly resolved and aligned, with tight gaps between housings. Form: functional minimalism, pure volumes, constant radii and no element without a function. CMF: bead-blasted anodized aluminum with matte black details and polished chamfers that catch the light. Style: design magazine editorial render, airy composition, restrained palette and long soft shadows. Manufacturing: it must look injection-moldable in plastic, with draft angles, even wall thickness and clean parting lines. Setting: light gray studio infinity cove, with the contact shadow of the piece on the curved floor. Camera: choose the angle that best explains the form and keep the whole piece inside the frame, with nothing cropped. Lighting: a large neutral softbox from above, long highlights on glossy surfaces and soft fill. Objective: presentation render, a flawless hero piece with space on one side for the slide headline. Format: 16:9 aspect ratio, for a product presentation. Avoid: floating parts or impossible joints, invented text or logos, watermarks and deformed geometry.
Notice that the prompt fixes the material (anodized aluminum), the manufacturing method (injection molding with draft angles) and a list of things to avoid, three decisions a free-form description usually leaves to chance.
The result: the AI gets form, material, manufacturing, light and camera already decided, and returns an image or mesh that reads as a real product instead of a generic object.
Which AI 3D model generator route: from text or images
There are two routes to generate 3D models. With text to 3D, you paste the written prompt into a tool like Meshy or Tripo AI and it builds 3D models from text prompts, with a mesh and AI texturing based on your text descriptions. This kind of AI 3D creation is fast, but the texture and topology vary between runs.
With image to 3D, you first create a concept (a single image, or a multi-view turnaround) in Midjourney or GPT Image and then use it as the reference image, so you get 3D models from images. The second route gives you more control over form and CMF before you spend credits. Either way, choose “Modeling reference” as the image objective and “Turnaround” as the deliverable so the models generated start from clear proportions and give you a detailed 3D base.
Tips for 3D model generation and 3D print
5 quick tips
- Change one variable per iteration (material, light or view) so you compare CMF variants fairly.
- In Midjourney, what you don’t want in the image goes after the –no parameter, separated by commas, according to its documentation on –no.
- Check the export file type your 3D workflow needs before you generate: Meshy, for example, exports GLB, FBX, OBJ, STL, USDZ and 3MF, so a textured 3D model can go straight into a game engine or a slicer.
- For printing, pick “3D printing” under Manufacturing and check the STL in your slicer: AI-generated models often need repairs to the mesh first.
- Bring the base model into Blender or other 3D software to refine topology and texture; treat the output as a starting point, not a final asset. Detailed 3D models for production still need a 3D artist.
Use case ideas: generate 3D assets and create 3D models with AI
- Exploring initial concepts for a physical product or consumer electronics before a traditional 3D pipeline.
- A product render for a presentation or an ecommerce listing image.
- A character or collectible toy, with its visual turnaround.
- Props, environments, a usable 3D asset or game assets in a low poly or AAA style.
What makes a good 3D design prompt
A good 3D prompt, whatever the AI model, describes the object and its function, the form (formal language), the CMF, the light, the camera and the render style, and adds manufacturing or brand constraints. Function is what people forget most: if the model knows the handle is used with one hand or that the part will be 3D printed, it proposes believable proportions and details instead of a pretty sculpture nobody could make.

Why I built these generators
Frequently asked questions
Is it a free AI tool?
Yes, it’s free. Before it asks for anything, it shows you a preview with the first sections of the prompt. To see the whole prompt and copy it, enter your email and accept the Privacy Policy; receiving communications from Founderz is optional.
It only asks once per visit: any prompts you generate after that are shown in full.
Does it generate a 3D model?
No. It writes the 3D model from a prompt brief. If you choose an AI-powered 3D model generator such as Tripo AI or Spline AI, that tool does the 3D generation; with Midjourney or GPT Image you get concept images.
Does it work for characters and video games?
Yes. Choose character, creature or video game prop as the type of piece, and concept art for a game or a character visual turnaround as the objective. Low poly, voxel art and AAA video game styles are in the render style list.
What does CMF mean?
It stands for color, material and finish, the part of industrial design that defines how a product looks and feels. The generator offers combinations such as anodized aluminum and matte black, or bioplastic and earth tones.
What language does the prompt come out in?
In English, the language of this page. If your tool works better in another language, ask your assistant to translate the prompt before you paste it, or use the Spanish version of the generator.
