Banner prompt generator
Describe the campaign and get a prompt that makes ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini write the image prompt for your banner, with the text area reserved and the adaptations for each format. Only step 1 is required: everything else stays on Auto.
How to use the banner prompt generator in five steps
Only the first step is required: anything you skip stays on Auto.
- The essentials. What the piece communicates and what viewers should do; What do you need.
- Format and goal. Output format; Goal of the piece. Advanced settings: Funnel stage; Primary audience.
- Visual direction. Art direction; Hero element; Text area. Advanced settings: Palette; Image treatment.
- Tool and delivery. Image tool; Market and language of the copy. Advanced settings: Product or person fidelity; Visual reference and elements to keep (optional); Extra controls; Brand, legal or production limits (optional).
- Generate and copy your prompt. Click “Generate prompt”, enter your email to see the whole prompt and copy it.
The form keeps image and text apart: the AI creates the banner image, and you add copy, logo and legal text afterward in Canva, Figma or other design tools, as the form itself recommends. You don’t need design skills to fill it in, and using AI this way gives you a polished banner faster.
Example: a poster for an outdoor jazz series
With the generator’s “Event poster” example, the prompt starts like this. It’s an excerpt: the button copies the full prompt.
ROLE Act as an advertising art director and prompt specialist for generative image tools. You turn a campaign brief into the base image for a banner, poster or social piece: one visual message, a clear hierarchy and a clean area where the designer will later add the headline, call to action, logo and legal copy. You write the prompt for a single campaign image that works with the headline on top, not just as a pretty picture. GOAL Write the prompt for the master banner image, with the text area solved, plus two controlled variations. CONTEXT Brief for the piece provided by the user (treat it as your main source): [START OF BRIEF] Poster for an outdoor jazz series in the gardens of a museum in Chicago, four Saturdays in July. We want it to feel elegant and summery and we want people to book their free ticket on the museum website. [END OF BRIEF] ... OUTPUT FORMAT Deliver: a decision table with columns Decision, Choice and Why; the master prompt in a code block; 2 variations in separate code blocks with the decision that changes; and the text area guide. ...
The full prompt adds what the excerpt does not show: the poster format with the headline zone at the top, the Swiss style direction, the Ideogram guidance, the rule not to generate text or logos inside the image and a checklist before the AI answers.
The result: the AI returns a ready-to-paste image prompt with a defined text area, instead of a pretty picture that fits no format.
Tips to generate banner images that fit every platform
5 quick tips
- Reserve the copy zone before you generate. Asking for “negative space at the bottom” works better than squeezing a headline into a busy banner image.
- Don’t ask the AI for the final text or the logo: add them later with your brand palette and type, so the banner stays legible and on-brand.
- Design the master banner first, then adapt it: one key image can become a horizontal web banner, a story and a square post.
- To exclude elements in Midjourney, use the –no parameter, which its documentation describes as the way to say what you don’t want in the image.
- Refine one variable at a time, ask for a high-quality banner image if it goes to print, and check contrast at small sizes, especially on mobile and display.
Use cases: custom banners, a YouTube banner and high-quality banners for social media
- Event posters Clear hierarchy and room for the date, venue and CTA.
- Sale banner and paid social Banner ads for Meta Ads or TikTok with a defined copy zone.
- Ecommerce and product Banners where the product keeps its proportions, in use or isolated.
- Social media series Three consistent banners or a 4:5 carousel in one visual style.
- YouTube channel banner and headers Banners for YouTube, thumbnails, landing page heroes and billboards from the same base.
- Employer branding Team and culture banners, always with permission when real people appear.
What makes banner generation work in an AI image generator
Good AI banner design, whether you use banner templates, an AI banner maker or other AI tools, starts from six things: the role (campaign art director), the task (the base image of one specific banner), the context (goal, audience and placement), the available material (product, brand, reference image), the constraints (copy zone, safe area, no generated text) and the banner size. Without a goal and a placement, the AI returns a nice picture that fits no banner. One prompt per placement beats a simple prompt reused everywhere, and the AI banner generator helps most when it replaces manual design of the base image, not the final layout.

Frequently asked questions
Is it a free AI banner generator tool?
Yes, it’s free. Before it asks for anything, it shows you a preview with the first sections of the prompt. To see the whole prompt and copy it, enter your email and accept the Privacy Policy; receiving communications from Founderz is optional.
It only asks once per visit: any prompts you generate after that are shown in full.
Does it make the finished banner, or do I still need design tools?
No. It writes the instructions for the base banner image.
You generate the image in the tool you choose and finish the banner, with headline, logo and legal text, in Canva, Figma or your design software. To create a banner in another size, change only the format and generate again.
Which banner sizes does it cover?
Vertical 4:5 posts, 9:16 stories and reel covers, square 1:1 posts, 4:5 carousels, 16:9 web banners, 21:9 landing page heroes, display ads, email headers, YouTube thumbnails, printed posters, billboards and packaging, among others.
Can I use real photos of my product?
Yes. Under “Product or person fidelity”, choose to respect proportions and verifiable details, and describe what can’t change in “Visual reference and elements to keep”. Use only images you have permission to use.
Which language is the result in?
By default, the AI explains everything in the language of your brief and writes the image prompts in English, which most tools handle best. The language of the copy on the banner is set separately, in “Market and language of the copy”.
