Business prompt generator

Tell us about the decision, negotiation or idea on your desk and get a professional prompt to analyse it, make the case for it or turn it into a plan. Only step 1 is required: everything else stays on Auto.

How to generate AI prompts with the business prompt generator

To build your prompt, follow these steps. Only the first one is required: anything you skip stays on Auto.

  1. Start with the essentials. Pick an example (decision, business case, negotiation, SWOT, difficult message or idea to plan) or describe the options you are weighing, the data you have and what cannot move. Then choose what you need to prepare, or leave it on Auto so it is worked out from your text.
  2. Describe your business and the decision. The type of business (startup, small business, midsize company, large company or an internal unit) and who it is with or for: partners or leadership, your team, a customer, a supplier, an investor or a sceptic. In the advanced settings you set the type of decision and the business model (B2B, B2C or both).
  3. Set criteria and data. What matters most (revenue and margin, cash and cost, customer impact, speed, low risk or reputation) and what information you have, from your own data to just the idea. In the advanced settings you choose the time horizon and who decides.
  4. Choose format and tone. Executive summary, tables, slides, one page, conversation script or email, in a clear, diplomatic, formal, persuasive but not pushy, or calm tone. The advanced settings add extra controls such as a pre-mortem or a sensitivity analysis, the level of detail and the answer language.
  5. Generate and copy your prompt. Click “Generate prompt”, enter your email to see the whole prompt and copy it.

Ten business jobs. The “What do you need to prepare?” selector offers analyse a decision, business case, prepare a negotiation, SWOT analysis, sensitive message, decide with incomplete data, win support for a proposal, action plan, assess risks and from idea to plan.

Each job brings its own framework (weighted decision matrix, scenarios, BATNA, TOWS or Lean Canvas), an output format with specific columns and three follow-up requests.

Example: AI prompts for a business investment decision

With the generator’s “Decision” example, the prompt starts like this. It’s an excerpt: the button copies the full prompt.

ROLE
Act as a business and strategy adviser with experience in small, midsize and large companies. You know the weighted decision matrix, the pre-mortem, SWOT and its TOWS cross-analysis, negotiation preparation with BATNA and ZOPA, the scenario-based business case, the probability and impact matrix, the pyramid principle (conclusion first) and 30, 60 and 90 day plans. You separate data, assumption, inference and recommendation, and you never fill gaps with invented figures, customers or terms. You structure decisions with a weighted decision matrix (weighted criteria and options scored from 1 to 5) and you keep the recommendation separate from the evidence.

GOAL
Structure the decision in the context: real options, weighted criteria, evidence for each option, risks and a recommendation conditional on the assumptions behind it.

CONTEXT
Context provided by the user (treat it as your main source):
[START OF BRIEF]
Decide whether to open a second store in Manchester or invest the same budget in our online shop. Online sales have grown 35 % in a year and the physical store is profitable; the available budget is 120,000 pounds.
[END OF BRIEF]

...

OUTPUT FORMAT
Deliver: 1) the decision in one sentence; 2) a matrix with the columns Criterion, Weight and one column per option with the score and its justification; 3) the weighted total per option; 4) a risks table with the columns Option, Main risk, Mitigation; 5) the recommendation, its conditions and what would have to happen to change it.

...

The full prompt adds the small business and investment decision context, revenue and margin as the main criterion, constraints against invented figures and financial advice, actions organised by quarter and a final check on every figure.

The result: ChatGPT compares the two options with explicit criteria and weights and tells you which data point is missing, instead of choosing for you with invented figures.

Tips for prompt creation: refine your inputs, get high-quality prompts

6 quick tips

  • Write down the real options you’re weighing and the criterion that matters most. Given two concrete options, AI tools compare and give you insight; given an open question, they ramble. Use AI to brainstorm options first if you only have one.
  • Set “What information you have” honestly: your own data, aggregated metrics, customer feedback, public information or just the idea. The generator treats it as a limit and turns anything unconfirmed into a question or an assumption.
  • Turn on “Questions first” if your context is short: the AI will ask up to five questions, ordered by impact, before it analyses anything.
  • For an early startup idea, pick the “Decide with incomplete data” or “From idea to plan” job so the AI designs the cheapest test before you commit a budget.
  • To optimize and polish the result, change one field between versions and see which setting enhances it. When a combination works, save it as a template for your team.
  • Before you paste anything, swap client and supplier names for roles and contract figures for ranges.

Use cases: from a business plan to a marketer brief

  • Decide A decision analysis or risk matrix when you have to choose between two investments or launch a product.
  • Pitch an idea A business case or talking points for partners, leadership or a skeptical investor.
  • Negotiate Prep for a client or supplier negotiation, with margins, concessions and fallback options.
  • Communicate A guide for a difficult conversation with your team or a client, calm in tone and with no promises you can’t keep.
  • Plan and execute A 30/60/90-day action plan with milestones and owners that helps the team align, or the step from a startup idea to a business plan.
  • Position With the decision type “Positioning”, a review of your offer against the target audience before a marketer starts a campaign.

What makes effective AI prompts (and why this is not an AI writing tool)

A good business prompt gives the AI what you’d give a new consultant: a role, a specific task, the business context, the material it can use, the constraints (what it must not invent) and the output format. Leave one piece out and AI models fill the gap with guesses, so the answer comes back generic.

This is prompt engineering applied to decisions. Think of the tool as a builder for an AI-powered prompt, not a writer: it asks for those pieces in order and flags what you need to verify before you decide, which is where you save time, gain productivity and reduce errors.

Why I built these generators

Paul Delaney

I’m Paul Delaney, and I lead search and AI visibility at Founderz. I’ve been designing AI prompts since the GPT-2 era and writing them every day since 2021, helping friends, colleagues and clients across many sectors, industries and roles get more out of their work with AI tools.

I built these generators to help people. AI is a wonderful tool: it doesn’t replace people, it helps them deliver more and better work. So this generator is designed to bring real value to everyone who uses it, whatever their prompting level. I built it with AI helping me write the code, which is the best proof of what AI lets you do.

Structured prompting, the technique behind this generator, is only one of many. Founderz’s AI and Innovation certificate program teaches it alongside many others, so graduates come out significantly upskilled and able to build tools like this for their own field.

Frequently asked questions

Is this business prompt generator free to use?

Yes, it’s free. Before it asks for anything, it shows you a preview with the first sections of the prompt. To see the whole prompt and copy it, enter your email and accept the Privacy Policy; receiving communications from Founderz is optional.

It only asks once per visit: any prompts you generate after that are shown in full.

Which AI tools can I use the prompt with?

Any text-based AI assistant: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot or the one your company has approved. The prompt is portable, so there is no tool to pick in the generator; if it includes company data, paste it into the approved version.

Can I get the prompt in another language?

Yes. By default the AI answers in the language of your context; “Answer language”, in the advanced settings of step 4, lets you choose US, UK, Canadian or Australian English, Spanish from Spain or Latin America, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Dutch or a bilingual version.

What happens to the data I type?

The generator doesn’t use a language model: it combines your answers with Founderz templates in your browser. It only sends Founderz your email when you ask to see the prompt, and usage analytics record the options you picked, never your brief or the generated prompt.

Can the AI make the decision for me?

No. The prompt asks the AI to present alternatives and trade-offs, separate evidence from assumptions and flag when legal, financial or leadership review is needed. The decision, and checking every figure, stay with you.

AI and Innovation certificate program

If you want to use AI across your business beyond a single prompt, the Founderz AI and Innovation certificate program teaches you to apply the main generative AI tools to real business cases. It’s 3-4 months, 100% online, and you finish with the Microsoft + Founderz certification.
